1.2mm Metric Ball End Mill

The 2-flute design on this 1.2mm ball end mill cuts cleanly through hardened steel without chattering, which surprised me. It held up well through about 30 passes on a tight 3D contour in a mold cavity—definitely a solid buy for micro machining.

I was nervous about a tool this tiny snapping on me, but the micrograin carbide has held up beautifully so far. The 2-flute design clears chips well, and the round ball nose leaves a smooth finish on the curved slot I milled in aluminum.

Cutting a rounded slot in some brass with this 1.2mm ball nose was surprisingly smooth, and the two-flute design cleared chips well without any chatter. It's held its edge through a dozen passes so far, which is more than I expected from something this tiny.
